Can You Hear Me Now?

First off, if you've never heard this song, it's a hoot....
(just click on the line below)

Over the years...  and remember, Bill and I were 40 years old when we met, so we already had dealt with various problems before we met...  we've had the normal aging problems, and some not so normal.

You know...  things like the arthroscopic surgery on the knees, the various biopsies to rule out major problems..  stuff like that.

I've had cataract surgery on both eyes...  Can I See You Now?...  well, yes, and you don't have a halo around your head.  All this time I thought you were an angel.  HAH!  Now everyone is just as ordinary as me!

While nothing has been considered "cosmetic" (I still think having my eyelids raised would be functional... NOT cosmetic!...  I could look at you without seeing that flab above my eyes) I've had a fair amount of necessary nips and tucks to keep me healthy.  Bill tends to go more for the emergency room visits...  like when he cut off the end of his finger on a mower blade, and just lately, he broke his ankle (again... the first time was about 25 years ago)...  and that sort of thing.

So why the song above?

Well, now it seems I have a hearing loss.  Hearing aids are recommended.

I still haven't decided...  but the song comes to mind because both of my eyes have "false" lenses to correct cataract problems, I've had cortizone shots in my hip to relieve pain, both knees have been scoped to remove cartilage tears, one even had that rooster comb stuff injected (I fully expected to wake up at the crack of dawn to start crowing... but, so far, that hasn't happened)....

Anyway... its "Can You Hear Me Now?".....

And if I get those hearing aids, it's just one more thing to hang on the bedpost before I retire at night...

But... I still have my own teeth, my own hair...  and thank goodness my nose hasn't fallen off yet.

That's All For Today!

  1. The YouTube doesn't have captions! I can't hear either... but mine is the digital type... I can hear but can't understand ~ I'm deaf in the top ranges and hear bass over everything. like a motor running 5 million miles away but a female's voice standing in front of me? hah... well, unless it's a loooow female voice.

    Hahaa like this OLD joke...

Three retirees, each with a hearing loss, were taking a walk one fine March day.

One remarked to the other, "Windy, ain't it?"

"No," the second man replied, "It's Thursday."

And the third man chimed in, "So am I. Let's have a coke."

They're getting less expensive ... used to be about $6000 each and I need them in both ears. so... it only bothers other people. ha

but I really would like to go to a play or join a group and hear what's going on... thinking really serious about spending the money on that instead of a new bathroom... big decision

  3. I'm thinking about doing the eyelid thing as I can now see the flap of eyelid. It is anoying. Hearing aids are in my future as well, and both parents have/had them. Mom has some that are very small, and one of the 'selling' points is they are programmable so she can leave them to me if she so desires. Hmmmm.

  4. My experience, Sharon: When I couldn't hear people I didn't much care. I could figure it out. When I couldn't hear children I would tell them to speak up, speak clearly. When my grandchildren came to live here I realized their normal speaking tones were normal and I needed to do something.
Now I can hear in meetings. Some noises, like the air conditioner in the town hall, irritates the snot out of me, every other Wednesday night.
You can't sweat on them, so I don't wear them to garden.
I told my doctor I would like a breast reduction. She says I'm not a candidate.
But, I'm glad about the hearing aids.

  5. Oh my gosh - you are so hilarious! I know what you mean: I've had a few repairs done too....had cataract surgery on both eyes last year = I've had my gall bladder out, the uterus left when I had my only child in 1977 (I nearly died with that episode), the ovaries left me in 1994. I still have my own teeth, and my nose is still in place. LOL

  6. I have implanted lenses (but still use reading glasses)in my eyes after cataract surgury and hearing aids in both ears. So, I understand what you are saying. "What?" in my most used word.

  7. And at least the boobs were permanently implanted. Nothing more disappointing than seeing you pull out those gym socks when you go to bed.

  8. I know a lot of people don't want to wear hearing aids if they show, but I wouldn't hesitate. To be able to hear clearly is such a gift, I'd go for it. Expensive, though, so hopefully insurance pays for them. :)

  9. Like they always say, "Old age ain't for sissies!" We gotta be tough enough to ride out the aches and pains and nuisances that would make a younger person cry. Good for us!
