Street Walkers

I'm have to study this evening, so tonight's post will be short...  just a few things that Bill & I see when we're walking along the streets...

No matter where we go we have to cross a bridge.  The views from the bridges are spectacular.  Looking right as we cross the Isabella Bridge, we look down onto a wide walking/bicycle path.  There is always "traffic" on it..  might be runners, people walking their dogs, or folks just strolling along
We often walk along this road to reach the Parque Maria Luisa.

Looking to your left...
There is a cafe...  sometimes we hear music...  This is busy especially in the evenings and on weekends.

We often "window shop" as we walk along...
I picked up a lot of reflection, but you can see what beautiful flamenco dresses these are.  This coming Saturday we are going to take in a flamenco show.  You know there'll be lots of photos coming from that!

The other evening we walked home after dark...
This vendor was roasting chestnuts to sell.
We didn't buy any as we were heading out to dinner, but this reminded me of our trip to Paris in 1988.
We were strolling along and I thought it would be romantic to buy some chestnuts.  We did...  they kind of had the texture of wax.  So much for romance ;-)
We had a couple of trees on our farm and sold chestnuts at the Farmer's Market in the fall.  But we didn't roast them....

Some of the streets here are VERY narrow!
There is a lot of traffic...  and on the main streets, there can be many lanes.  Parking is a problem here...  too many cars for the amount of parking spaces.  Folks park VERY close to each other and once they find a space, they are reluctant to move their vehicle.  Our host family has a car...  Carlo says he parks it for 2 weeks or more at a time without moving it.  He has forgotten where he parks it...  has had to ride his bicycle around to locate his car.

As I said, parking spaces are at a premium.
We had fun watching this lady maneuver her little Smart Car out of this space.  She not only did it, she did it and only barely tapped the bumper of the car in front once.
We gave her "thumbs up" as she drove away.

Well, I am here to learn Spanish...  I have some homework this evening so better hit the books.

That's All For Today!

  1. I remember the first time I was in Paris in the fall of '78.
At the time I had a 1970 Volvo 144 (so, a four door sedan) which I had left behind in Canada, and compared to the cars in Paris, it was absolutely HUGE! I had never seen so many small cars. And the "Smart" car of now a days is still kind of big in comparison to many. Fun stuff.

  2. Reminds me of my few days in Barcelona. Everyone used scooter there.

  5. Loved the photos. I don't see how that lady managed to get that Smart Car out of the parking space. Talk about up close and personal!!
