Meeting Other Bloggers...

I love reading other folks blogs...  all kinds of blogs written by all kinds of folks.  Every now and then we get the opportunity to actually meet in person the writer of blogs I read.  One blog I read is "Our Awesome Travels"...  by George Yates and his wife Suzie.  I think I was first attracted to George's blog because of his photos of the foods he prepares.

When I read the line just below the header of his blog a few days ago, I realized that they were staying in Glen Rose, Tx.  That's about a 15 minute drive from our daughter's house, so I sent an e-mail kinda welcoming them to this area.  George immediately e-mailed back and suggested getting together before they head on to Arizona.

Of Course!
Today was the day!  We had no problem finding their site at the Tres Rios Resort...  they're the ones with the Weber Grill on their picnic table.  Okay... I know, lots of people have one, but since I also read Rick Doyle's blog, I couldn't resist throwing that Weber grill thing in.

Despite the fact that Bill & I have spent quite a bit of time in Glen Rose, I had to admit that we've never gone out to eat here.  No problem...  George had done some research and knew where the restaurants were and what kind of food they served.  (George told us he'd had a restaurant for many years in Ontario, so I bet he can critique all the food places).  We settled on the "Green Pickle"...

Here's George and Suzie standing under the sign....

We all ordered, and while it was a mite greasy...
Those burgers (and chicken) were mighty tasty!
If you can look beyond the burgers, you might notice that the table cloth was totally designed with green pickles.

I think we all agreed we seldom eat beef, but, hey...  we're in Texas....
And, Bill & I both had the green chile cheeseburger...  those green chiles surely killed off any bad stuff.
Yeah...  the Green Pickle was a good choice!

We'd only been a couple of hours eating and talking at the restaurant...  hardly long enough to get acquainted...  so we went for a short drive around the back roads of Glen Rose before heading back to the Tres Rios park.

We love hearing about other RVers lifestyle...  love hearing where they've been and where they plan to go.  It's fun talking about blogging...  both George & I read a lot of the same folks writings.  It's just so interesting to meet up with the face behind the words.

Thank you, George and Suzie for a very pleasant afternoon.  May your travels continue to be safe and full of adventure.  Hope to see you down the road...

That's All For Today!

  1. We all like to meet other bloggers, and any of us that are also RVers, like to meet other RVers, too. And if they are bloggers and RVers, that is the icing on the cake. Glad you guys could meet and eat. Two of my favorite things.

  2. Well, I probably could have eaten about half of one of those meals by the looks of them. Sometimes a little greasy is heavenly. :) I haven't checked out George's blog yet. I'll have to do that.

  8. Now I get to see the other point of view. Always best when the two bloggers who meet up, end up writing about their visit(s). More pictures of food. Never a bad thing.

  9. How fun. I had the experience in Oregon City, Oregon of having somebody knock on my RV door one evening. Betty and Joe had come to introduce themselves as readers of my blog who live very close to where I was camping. We've become great friends and stay in touch through our blogs, email and phone calls. I was thrilled to meet them and I love continuing the friendship.
I need to check out George's blog, too.
    The food looked great.

  13. Glad you had a nice visit with George and Suzie. The Green Pickle sure knows how to make a good looking burger. Looks like you may have needed sum Tums after all that. Now, I'll have to go over and read George's blog.

  15. Howdy Sharon & Bill,
I'd plumb forgotten y'all were back down here and haven't mentioned it to George, whom I've been trying, like y'all, to get to stop by on his way to Asrizona, as I'm on the way and all he has to do is STOP !!! I'm glad, though, that y'all all go together and 'VISITED' !!! I had mentioned, finally, some sight-seeing that they could do, while in the area and the Comanche Peak GLOW-GREEN-PLANT was one of them but I figured you'd have to have a pass or something to get to it...
Bob Skelding, (wagonteamster.com blog) is an NUCLEAR ENGINEER and works on re-loading the ATOMIC RODS; he's in Newbraskie,
    doing that, now !!!
Sure glad y'all are back down here and out of the COLD !!! Come out anytime and visit !!!

ps: The Comanche Peak plant has some nefarious history, I'll tell y'all about, sometime...

  16. That's one of the thing I miss staying at home. It has always been a pleasure to meet fellow RVers.
And lots of good stories to talk about. We met the "Yates" while staying in California a couple of winters ago.
The food looks kind of "overwhelming" to me.

  17. Now that was a whole lot of food! Glad you got to meet Suzie and George. They were here on the Isla for a few months a few years ago. I had the honor or teaching him how to clean shrimp
