A Good Day....

We took the 7:30 bus on a special mission this morning?  Where were we going?
The Home Depot in Puerto Vallarta!
Why, you might ask?  Well, after looking here in Lo de Marcus and all the surrounding towns, we were looking for a Hummingbird Feeder.  The subject came up again yesterday on our Thursday hike, and Nancy, another hiker, was also looking for one.  I think our friends Francine and Greg found one in an Arizona Walmart, and they'll be coming here in a couple of weeks, (we did find one but it's quite different than ones we use in the US) but Bill loves Home Depot, so we thought we'd see what one in Mexico was like.
Well...  it's just like the ones in the USA.  Not laid out exactly the same, but so similar you can easily find whatever you're looking for.  The bus ride from here to there took 1.5 hours (lots of stops along the way), but we like riding the bus here, so that was fine.

Got back, checked my e-mail etc.....  and what should appear?
This photo of our Great-granddaughter, Evie...  in safety goggles, a hard hat, a safety vest...  and  a chart of measurements in the background (you know... measure twice, cut once).  She could have been the poster child for Home Depot!  I can see where Bill will enlist her help on various projects when we see her again....  isn't she a cutie?

This is what woke us up at 5:45 am this morning...
We live in a complex of 14 "bungalows" or apartments.  I don't know how many folks rolled in at that hour (there are only a dozen or in this photo) but their laughter, yelling, and raucous behavior made me wonder if they were just getting home after a wild party.  The noise kept up until about 6:30...  we left before 7:30 and got home around 10:30.  Sometime in early afternoon, the party started again...  loud music, a lot of yelling back and forth...  it has quieted down somewhat, but now, at 7:30 pm, I think they are revving up again for a night of partying.  I think they occupy 3 or 4 of the units here, and most folks stay through the weekend, so we may have a couple more days of it.

So....  Some more peaceful photos...
Turtles, cormorants, herons, egrets, coots..... probably more...
Look how many species like this tree that has fallen across the river.....
The river is still up because of being cut off at the sea...

This Blue-winged teal is having a good time taking a bath in the waters...

And at the sea....
There were huge flocks of pelicans checking out what those high waves have rolled up...

But...  my favorite of the day..
I call this...
The Odd Couple
Okay, I know this gull and tern just happen to be standing side by side, but don't they look like an old married couple who have been together forever?

Which, reminds me...  today is Bill and my 34th Anniversary....
(and the 4th anniversary of my blog)

Seems fitting today should start with a trip to Home Depot and end with a walk to the sea.   We're just that kind of people.

That's All For Today!

  6. I love Home Depot. am always going there, because something is broken. The Odd Couple look content together. Like they're been through the mill and a bit shell shocked but ok. Loud partying neighbors are not fun. Especially if it goes on too long. I can't do without my Zzzzz's. An hour and a half on the bus is a long time. Can you read on the bus? Happy Anniversary!

  8. Congratulations on both anniversaries. Both are great achievements. We were at Ace Hardware here yesterday, and we're not even staying in our own home. As for the final photo - I thought of the movie "Twins" with Danny Devito and Arnold. Funny!
